Prof. Mark Tibbitt was recently profiled by German magazine JWD, as part of their “Mann von Welt” series.
The Download article (PDF, 1.3 MB) discusses the challenges involving the costly global supply chain of vaccines. One of the potential solutions is to encapsulate vaccines within polymeric materials, in order to protect them from thermal stresses. This approach of thermal stabilisation of vaccines and other complex biomolecules is a current area of research in the Macromolecular Engineering Lab.
